This data is from The Future of Jobs, a report published by the World Economic Forum and it shows that the reality of the labor market is already modified by industrial automation. Almost 50% of companies expect automation to lead to some reduction of their full-time workforce by 2022. However, the hope for the future of jobs is still positive. From this new division of labor, by 2020, 133 million new jobs that integrate machines and humans may be created. This data is from The Future of Jobs report, recently published by the World Economic Forum.
The so-called fourth industrial revolution took center stage at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The term is used by experts to refer to the arrival of new technologies, such as artificial intelligence, industrial automation and 3D printing, among others. The point is that the arrival of this technology wave is changing the way nations live and work.
Following the optimism for the arrival of technology, the report points out that 38% of companies surveyed expect to extend their workforce to new productivity and function improvements, and more than a quarter expect that automation will lead to the creation of new roles in their company. According to the specialist in industrial automation, Marcelo Miranda, the global market needs to keep up with the pace of change.
“Companies, governments and organizations are struggling to follow the accelerated pace of technological implementation of the 4th industry and not let Brazil fall behind in what is the first revolution in the globalized world. While artificial intelligence will eliminate some jobs, a new demand for new human skills is emerging,” states the CEO of ‘Accede Automação Industrial’, based in the state of São Paulo, recognized as the largest economic and industrial center in the Southern Hemisphere and the largest business center in Latin America.
About half of today’s top jobs – most of the jobs in all sectors – will remain stable in the period up until 2022. However, the report also pointed out that in fact some jobs will be extinguished with the arrival of automation: 75 million jobs could be replaced. As the employment relations change, this number makes the intellectual requirement for future workers even greater.
“It is time to focus on increasing economic value through new activities, improving the quality of traditional work. How so? Increasing the skills of its employees, putting them as extraordinary, performing tasks of high added value, that need to be done by human workers,” says Miranda, who has more than 20 years of experience in the industrial sector.
4th Revolution in Brazil
In Brazil, through small advancements, companies have begun to implement the 4th industrial revolution. Currently, according to the Brazilian Industrial Development Agency (ABDI), which is linked to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MDIC), less than 2% of companies are included in this global concept. However, the expectation is positive, in ten years, 15% of industries across the national territory must act on the concept of the 4th industry.
